Anonymous Calls from unidentifiable callers

Hi, Over the past three days I have received two calls from the following numbers to my ex dir landline. 05818917617 and 04991882197. When the number calls me it is a strange continuous warbling sound (as though in an echo chamber) when picking up the handset on my phone the line goes dead. Enquiries to who called me from ...? have not drawn any conclusions or results. Is there anybody with any like experience of these type of calls or these two  particular numbers.

The numbers will be spoofed by the scammers and will be meaningless. Ex-directory is irrelevant, the scammers don't look numbers up in a phone book, they dial thousands of numbers sequentially.

i am also getting strange calls form similar numbers. I tend not to speak first now if it is a number i do not recognise...and then the callers just hang up but never had this issue before.

I recently moved to BT and they switched me to digital voice. DOnt know if that has anything to do with it

did you retain your number or get new number from BT  these calls are just computer generated running through series of numbers one after the other

if that was for me...and not the OP...then i retained the number we previously had.
Was a BT number, it moved to NowTV...now back with BT but it is digital voice now.

my DV allows me to block calls as part of DV by going to MYBT

yeah...i will do that...but not one has been a double...always random...so i think it will be a losing battle.

i wonder if i mgihit only allow specific numbers...that would be better....as only one relative ever used the landline to call us.
