so is it normal for it to be this low, then slowely creap up over 10 days(keep hearing about 10 day settling period?)
It is not normal for it to be that low. You should receive around about what you were estimated at.
BT however will wait until the 10 days has passed before they will do anything.
Are you using a wired or wireless connection.
If Wireless test with a wired connection.
Hi*
I was quoted 41mbit down but am lucky to achieve 33mbit. As pippin says, you should get something a lot nearer to your estimate. If, like me, you are a few hundred metres from the cab *and* have the dreaded aluminium in your service then this can severely affect the VDSL signalling.
ptan
I wouldn't expect it to be affected that severely ptan.
... experience is everything pippinc
thanks for the reply......
wired on the machine i do the speed test on.
so tested this morning about 7am, and got 34meg? i have been at work so got my daughter to test every now and then, and she got between 24 and 18 meg download.
i have just done another and got this, its better than yesterday? im hoping that im being premature in panicking, and it will settle over a few days?
do you think thats the case!

phoned bt up tonight, spoke to a lovely lady in india..... she went through all the usual stuff, reset both hub 3 and infinity box, retested speed went down to 4 meg.
i even got a new cable and plugged a laptop into the hu, removed old pc, retested, 4meg, so kinda proved all was well with my pc?
she said the line to my pc, she was getting 28 meg?not sure how that works, but hey ho???
anyway, she said it looked like there was a "hard network" fault on the line? not sure what that means, and was passing it to the network experts.
so..... after about an hour, im getting 28 meg down and 9.5 up, checked over an hour or so and stayed the same.
if it stays like this, i will be happy.
Hi andyf
Keep an eye on it yes. It may still fluctuate. You do seem to be getting quite a high variation.
When you run the test, do you ensure that there are no other applications or devices accessing any internet content? If someone else is say "streaming" on their iPad at the time you run your test this could affect the result.
Ptan
yep, has stayed the same over night and up to now.
so what was the problem? any ideas.
@ptan, all programs off, and no streaming, will keep checking, just seams weird that it was fixed after a phone call, almost like the forgot to flick the switch from broadband to infinity, lol
