Apple devices and BT yahoo mail

Go to solution

I have an iPhone and and iPad which I have set up to receive mail from my Btinternet.com account.  I can receive and read them OK but cannot REPLY or FORWARD those messages.

At the moment I have to do a tedious cut and paste into my iCloud account to reply.

Is there a solution to this as I have heard that some mail providers do not allow message handling in this way?

Is Yahoo one of them?

Re: Apple devices and BT yahoo mail

I just replied to another thread about a Ipad, asking what type of account is setup.

My answers may help.

Hi Keith,

Tryed that reconfiguration which torpedoed the account on my outlook. Have reverted to POP there as the server kept refusing my password.

Will continue to try to manually configure the A/C on the iPhone.

I am not sure how to configure Outlook for IMAP as I use Thunderbird, which I believe also has a MAC version.

Using Thunderbird e-mail client

Hi

The issue is with Yahoo not Outlook which I use for other IMAP accounts.  The mail server refuses the password login, but accepts it for the POP configuration.

If you look at the settings that I use for Thunderbird, it may give you a clue. Sometimes it can simply be a port or authentication issue.

Sounds like your SMTP configuration isn't right.

Which server, port and SSL configuration are you using ?

Hi Ian

I am using mail.btinternet.com on port 25 with no encryption.  No SSL required.

Any help
