Over the last few days I have been unable to connect with depositfiles.com. I cannot access their website directly and cannot download any content from thier servers. I get a "timed out" error.
Other folks I know are not having a problem so I know the site is active.
I know there have been issues in the past with BT being suspected of blocking certain sites and was wondering if this was the issue here.
Can anyone else access the site?

Are BT now blocking depositfiles.com? I get Network Error (tcp_error) when trying to access the site. The site is not down as I can logon using my mobile also my son uses sky broadband and he has no problems. I have tried clearing the cache and also tried firefox.
If it has been identified as a site which could house copyrighted content, then its quite likely that it is blocked, if you have read the recent tech news. Major ISPs have been asked to blacklist a large number of sites known to carry such content.
shows the site as up, so its quite possible it has been put on the blacklist.

I can (from a non BT connection), and the IP address is 22.214.171.124
Can you browse to http://126.96.36.199
Although a blocked site is quite likely, there are other possible issues that can cause this sort of behaviour, and that we can explore.

Browsing to http://188.8.131.52 gives me the same network error.

Ok, the ping and trace route confirm that your PC can reach the server at IP level. Next is a test to see if you can connect on port 80...
try the command
TELNET 184.108.40.206 80
If you get
Connecting To 220.127.116.11...Could not open connection to the host, on port 80:
Then something between your PC and the server is blocking TCP/IP port 80 connections.
But if the (command) screen goes blank, you have connected to the server and BT are not blocking the connection, meaning it is somethig else.
Also, what OS and Browser are you using?
I have done the TELNET 18.104.22.168 80 command and get black screen in command box (no text)
I am running windows 7 sp1 IE9 and firefox also running microsoft security essentials.
I have tried with firewall turned off and disabled mse, still wont connect, It was working ok a few days ago.

Very interesting. That means that your PC can connect on port 80 to the server, which pretty much eliminates BT doing any blocking.
Could you post a screen shot of the actual error?
Are you able to browse other sites ok?
It could be security s/w at your end (although you say you've disabled it). Do you have any other devices that can use the hub to connect?
Are you on wireless, or wired connection to the hub?
Another outline possibility is that your wan IP address is being blocked by their server. If you browse to your hub http://192.168.1.254 a-z, broadband, then disconnect and connect, you will get a new WAN IP. That might fix it.
Try these things. If this doesn't work, we'll try telnet to the web server and see what HTML it returns.
I can browse to all the other file hosting sites eg megaupload, filefactory, filesonic.
Wired connection to pc wireless to laptop, nothing else connected.
disconnected broadband then reconnected still no go.
Do you think a reboot of the home hub 2 will help?, bit reluctant to try this as I have a good connection and speed
