I have updated the AC56U to the latest firmware, reset the BT OpenReach fiber box several times. Reset the AC56U several times to factory settings.
When I connect the AC56U using the same lan cable that goes to the BTHomeHub (which I keep testing and it works fine) to the Ethernet Wan Port, I get the same result.
When Detecting connection type it gets stuck at DSL Link Status: Link Down
Please make sure that the phone cable is connected to the DSL port.
I then skip setup wizard at some point and set it up manually using settings that others posted. No change, No Internet.
I spent three hours on this already. It really should not be that difficult to get a basic connection?
Where am I going wrong?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Generally with a DSL version of a modem/router you connect that directly to the telephone line , replacing the Openreach fibre box by the Asus.
Why are you not doing this, or do you actually have the RT-AC56U not the DSL-AC56U.
did you switch asus to router only?
OK so FTTH, well I honestly have no idea but hopefully someone else will come along who can help.
Played around with the settings, and used info from this thread
It worked! I set
- transfer mode to WAN under the WAN tab
- disabled 802.1Q
I have internet now, and I can get rid of the BTHH.
