Briefly - OK I chose to move to a very rural area & accepted that we were unlikely to have any huge connection speeds BUT I didn't bank on 8 years aof hassle with our phone & broadband.
After the latest faults which were reported to BT on 24th march and were only just 'resolved' last night I am furious, fed up, miffed and seem completely unable to get past the versed opereators who will not deviate from their text to answer any questions and repeat how sorry they are -I don't care any more - I want to talk to someone who wil actually help to resolve the issue.
BT have told me countless times that the cable from the pole outside my house to the exchange is damaged and needs replacing - but don't ever do it because it is too expensive. So we have to tolerate less than 1mb speed, dropped connections, telephone line which is so poor every call has to be taken & made on speaker phone to hear the caller or allow them to hear us, every call in or out disconnects the broadband line and so it goes on.
Every 'Indian customer service agebt has assured me I will get compensation - great but payment never comes or can even be discussed.
What do I have to do do get at least a useable service? I have just started a new business too which is dependant on the internet - some joke that is.
Any info or advice (other than to change ISP) would be appreciated together with any 'real English human being' phone mumber!
Thanks for reading my rant!

Have you tried contacting OFCOM? BT are required to maintain your line in a useable state; it's not good enough to say it's too expensive.
However, you have no right to a decent broadband service. This has been talked about by the government, but hasn't happened yet.
