Up untill last week my phone and tablets always connected automatically to my Hub 5. But then I found I have to reconnect each time and it takes for ages. I can only connect my Android phone and Android tablets after the message Authentication problem appears.. if I tap the name of the hub it usually connects but I have to go through this rigmarole every time.
After a lot of problems trying to connect both tablets I tapped on wps and that worked but I dont know if this was just a lucky fluke
Luckily my pc has remained connected ( so far) internet connection to my smart tv is ok too
I've been away on holiday and had no problem connecting to the hotels wifi So it must be something to do with the hub.
Does anyone know why this has suddenly happened and can anything been done to get automatic connection again? Thanks
have you tried a factory reset by pressing the recessed button on back and holding until lights flash remember after reset to turn off smart setup
if you mean your powerline adapter then reset will not affect the connection
the reset will take router back to as if new and often clears the problem you have
smart setup is here http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44328/~/what-is-smart-setup-on-the-bt-hub%3F-how-can-...
Thank you that seems clear enough.
Sorry .. one more question . Is it necessary to switch off the smart set up ?
Thanks

I have the Hub 5. Last week I started to have problems connecting to the Hub with my Android devices. They do connect eventually once the Authentication Error message appears . I tap on the name of the Hub and that appears to work... but it is annoying. I was on holiday last week and all devices downloaded to WiFi without any connection problems.
I just wondered if the Hub is not working like it should
We have thick stone walls so I have a TP powerlink which works well and I can stream 4k films from Netflix so no problem with the broadband.. just connecting devices
Is t
Hi @kathsmith,
The factory reset as suggested by @imjolly should fix the Authentication Error. Please can you give that a try and post back and let us know if have seen an improvement?

Thank you for your help. Today it hasnt been too difficult to connect although it doesn't automatically connect as before. My phone took a while but my tablet connected oncee I tapped connect
After resetting is it necessary to switch off the Smart Hub after resetting?
When I went on the home Hub page I hot a warning to say it wasn't a safe site
I only asked this question about getting an up to date hub because BT advertise having the Smart Hub with my super fast package and I thought the Hub 5 may not be the best .
I'll try not to post anything else
