Ive Logged my number with the telephone preference service, so I’m hoping these calls will reduce.

is there anything else we can do?

I didn’t have time to memorise it.  Only said once and pretty quickly. The posh gent did repeat the “press 9”  instruction several times - guess he wanted me to engage Immediately.  I imagine he would have been replaced by a totally different sort of accent!

These calls will not reduce unfortunately, not least because the scammers are using VoIP systems and spoofing the numbers. They can be anywhere in the world.

There is actually nothing that can be done at present, though BT suggest their Call Protect system helps.

Thanks for replying.

lets hope BT invest time and money into investigating and stopping these calls.

Will keep the disconnect button handy!

In my opinion the TPS is a waste of time.  Having reported companies many times over the years they still used to keep ringing.

Thankfully Call Protect has brought an end to most of these calls.

I have been plagued with similar calls and so far have barred 20 numbers and still have internet access. Just how many numbers do these people have access to. I must admit I haven’t checked my list of barred numbers for repeats.

The scammers are finding new ways to beat Call Protect all the time.  Having said that I get very few now compared with the 5 or 6 a day I used to get before.

At the moment one can only block 100 numbers but if you read various threads on here you will see that there is pressure on BT to increase this limit.

I am also getting these calls everyday and I dial 1572 and put the calls through to trash call but I think it is encouraging them and it is a nuisance.  Thinking about getting rid of the land line all together.

I just had a similar automated call from 01557644874. This is after 2 unknown calls last week from Indian sounding people who were trying to sell be cheaper landline calls. I didn’t tell them who my broadband provider was, which I shown I know it is a scam. Seems like they know my landline Number is real one now so have sold it onto the next bunch of scammers using a different approach. I was asked to dial 1 if I had BT landline or 2 for another service provider. I hung up.

I’ve been getting a lot of these over the last few days, two from International numbers, so not recognised, others from 01952 775940, 01933 840699, 01983 983204, 01924 788096 and 01792 748956

all telling me by broadband has been compromised and to press 1, there may be more to the call, but I hang up at that point. I’ve had three today, it’s very frustrating!
