Re: Automated scam message?

My elderly mother - who suffers from severe anxiety - has just received a couple of these calls, despite being on TPS and BT Call Protect.  She hung up, but was terrified that she might've done the wrong thing and that BT may really have been trying to contact her!  It took me ages to calm her down and reassure her that she had done the right thing.

These calls can really grind vulnerable people down.  I'm sure BT and the authorities could do more to counter these calls if they wanted.

Unfortunately when I get these scam calls I can’t get a number anymore because on the screen it just says unavailable!

Yet another scam call. Today’s was from 07807362595. Asian accent, poor quality line, terrible telephone manner. After informing me she was calling from BT and explaining that this was British Telecom, in a tone that suggested she thought I was an imbecile, she did not care to explain where in the U.K. she was based or what the weather was like. She really didn’t want to chat and hung up while I was in mid sentence.

Reported.

I received another of these calls this morning but from a different number - 01774795950. This number has now been blocked using 1572 and has been reported to BT.

If you look again I was replying to your comment about BT working to stop scams, clerly not suggesting you repoet an unavailable number.

Re: Automated scam message?

Just got back from holiday, tired and dialed 1571 to hear saved messages. It was an automated messages about my landline and Broadband ending today. Click 1 to continue the service SO CLICKED 1. When I did, all that happened was the BT automated voice repeated 'press 1 to hear the message, press 2 to save it.
Can Anyone out there advise me?
