Had two automated calls today. Interestingly, although caller display showed “unavailable” , 1471 gave the number 0001989562993.
Have reported calls.
With the automated message, what happens if you press'1'?

If you respond, then they know there is a real person on the end, and will add you to a "suckers" list, and you will get even more calls, so just hang up and do not speak, or press any buttons.
They will also try to extract personal information from you.
Now had 5 calls this week, same type of call, from different caller IDs all from a recording of a woman with an American? accent (though obviously not american). The frequency this week has been greater and the last was to my answerphone at 08:15 today. As the CIDs are different we cannot block the call. Please BT come up with a solution.
As end users we cannot block or report calls of this nature.

You can if you have a suitable phone which you can force people to announce themselves first, apart from those who you know.

Its not BTs problem, it affect all providers. BT does not control all of the phone network.

Even with BT Protect these calls get through. In the past two days, just had to block 4 different numbers, three of them showing international numbers (strange BT Protect didn't block them as it's set to do so), so some sort of dodgy spoof happening to fool the system; plus a couple of other attempts with similar, but BT blocked numbers, when looking at the BT Protect call log.

The scammers spoof the called from numbers using VoIP systems. The fact that they may use international looking numbers, the calls are not international unless they come through the international gateways. That's why having the international block doesn't work - it's not based on the number.
Call Protect is never going to stop all calls from scammers however, in my experience, it is blocking thevast majority.
If you are that concerned about the small percentage that get through then follow the advice given by @Keith_Beddoe and get a phone with call blocker.
I have also received a scam call today with an automated female voice telling me my internet was being disconnected and asking me to press 1 to be connected to BT followed by a male voice thanking me for my response (which didn't happen). I then hung up because it was obviously a scam.
I too am concerned about this feeling that someone inside BT could be passing on details as only BT know my number as this number is NEVER used, only by BT.
A little worrying!
Unlike other peoples comments I was able to take a number - 01290 256309
