Re: Automated scam message?

@Flossy744 this thread is concentrating on automated calls with recorded messages. I think there are several other threads concerning live calls.

Then BT Call Protect may help, there is even a chargeable VIP version which will only allow numbers that you specify, all others are rejected.

The other alternative is a call blocking phone.

Something like the BT 4600. You will need to add the phone numbers of people who you do want to be connected to. All others can either be blocked, or forced to announce themselves first, so you can decide whether you want to speak to them.

That will stop all automated messages.

Sounds good to me, family usually use my mobile number, it’s usually appointments, doctors/hospital/dentist type calls that use the house phone number.

Yes Scam absolutely. I get this one about 4 times a month. Even if you block the call it still keeps coming. BT are simply useless at blocking these. That is why we use mobiles now and landline is never used for calls. Sad really. I used to ignore this one, but now I press 1 to have some fun. It eventually connects you to someone invariably of an Indian sub-continent dialect who thanks you for calling the BT Technical Team. I am so fed up with these pathetic scam calls and irritating wasters who make them (wanting to steal your money) that I now provide advice to the **bleep**wit on the other end of the line which isn’t very polite. Then I hang up....and wait a week for it to happen again.

Please be aware that this is a worldwide problem. If it was easy to block them, the likes of AT&T, Comcast and all the other companies around the world would be doing so.
