B T PRICE RISE

Go to solution

B T have sent my bill saying I am in arrears with my bill by £136.88p  I have been on super fibre plus since may 12th which said unlimited broadband usage, price freeze for 18 months, My direct debits were £42.50 which usually covered my payments. Now from 1st of January my debit payment has been put up to £92 a month to cover my debit. Can anyone explain this to me? I went on chatline to complain but could get no explanation for my debit which I suddenly owe. I was going to scrap my contract but I still have about 11 months to go.

Normally when there is a big discrepency like that it's either calls you have made and/or not paying the correct installments.

If you upgraded did you put up your monthly payments to compensate ?

Did the new package have only weekend calls included instead of all calls ?

Check the details of each package.

Re: B T PRICE RISE

@malc37check your bill, I'll bet money you're on a monthly payment plan, something has recently pushed up your bill, most likely call charges and the BT billing system has recalculated your monthly amount, it can't be broadband usage as all BT plus packages are unlimited usage.

Speak with the billing team to see why the payments have increased, if you're making a lot of calls then see about adding a calling plan, evening and weekend calls can be added at £4.50 per month or if your calls are before 7pm weekdays then anytime calls is £9.99 per month, then ask for the monthly payments to be recalculated or if you don't have any debit then switch to a whole bill direct debit, it'll take all the guess work out and you'll only pay the amount your bill is..

BT billing are open from 8am tomorrow, ring 0800 800 150,

Re: B T PRICE RISE

I think @-Richie- would win his bet. There might be a few people who find it helpful, but by and large the Monthly Payment Plan has never been fit for purpose. I realised this several years ago and, following yet another balls-up, I switched to monthly whole bills and have not looked back. It's not error-proof but mistakes can be readily identified when you're looking at mostly self-contained bills rather than quarterly periods afflicted by seemingly random payment changes. Have a look here.

Re: B T PRICE RISE

Thanks -Richie- contacted by phone as you said and it was my payments did not cover my debit so paid £98 pounds off my bill to reduce my bill and now I pay £70 debit payments from 1st of Jan. I checked previous bills and in may was £53.49 in credit, August £37.45 in debit, November £136.88 debit. Said she could not find my may bill (which sounds dodgy to me as from being in credit to debit seems wrong to me but will jump ship when my contract is up I think. Thanks for your help.
