I have just set up a BT 6500 handset, the manual says the first time I go into Call Control it should prompt me to set up an access pin, but instead it is asking me for a pin and I am locked out. It's not 0000 or 1234.
If I was guessing I'd say my "new" handset has actually been set up previously, it's the only reason I can think of that would make it like this.
Anyways, I need to get into my phone, the manual is no help, how can I reset it or otherwise?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Taken direct from the user guide.
Menu, scroll to display Settings and
2. Press to highlight
Reset and press Select.
H/set settings is highlighted, press Select or press
Base settings and then press
Reset <handset or base> settings back to default?
is displayed, select
Resetting <handset or base> settings… is
displayed while the reset takes place. Once finished,
<handset or base> settings reset back to default
Thanks, I had tried that reset on the handset already and it didn't work, hance my post, but I went through it again this time aso resetting the base, and I also picked the option to clear all user data. That has done the trick.
Wow, thanks guys! I found a 3-handset BT8500 in a charity shop for £6, someone must have given up on it. But the PIN wasn't 0000 or anything else I tried, and I couldn't find a way to reset it until I found your post. I'd maybe have got there eventually but you made a puzzling task very easy, Reset User Data did the trick. Now I need to find out how to use it as a plain old telephone without the whistles and bells. Thanks again, Mike.
Did you get a solution to your pin problem as I have the same problem with my 6410 handset, the pin has been changed and I do not know how to reset it.
I have been in touch with the BT help desk who have given me some options for resetting my 6410 but mine turns out to be a 6410 + handset so am waiting to see if their is another code to do this.
To reset the 6410 is MENU then type ( * 0 # 0 *) (this does not show on the screen) press BACK and it should now show support press OK , scroll down to RESET SYSTEM PIN press Okay , press BACK 3 times and the display should revert back to STANDBY. Remove and reinstert batteries and the pin should be reset to 0000.
