BT Broadband Extender/Slave Hub

Go to solution
Hi,

I have a 'BT Business Hub 5' as my main router, the wifi doesn't reach to my workspace is it possible to use my old 'BT Business Hub 3' as an entension that can connect to my hub 5 and repeat the connection?

Any help is appreciated.

Yep, turn off DHCP on the hub3, change its address to 192.168.1.50 and connect a LAN port on the hub5 to a LAN port on the hub3. If you don't want to run an Ethernet cable, you can use powerline adaptors to connect the 2 together.

The hub allocates devices IP addresses using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) as the hub5 will be performing this task it needs to be disabled on the hub3. I haven't got a hub3, but it will be somewhere in the advanced network settings.
