Hi All
Please can someone help. I am not an IT GURU so please humour me, the question is simply is the IP address static or dynamic on a residential BT Broadband line or is there any way i can check (Windows 7).
We are about to have Remotely Monitored CCTV fitted which requires a Static IP, BT werent particulary helpful - they suggested that it was already static but after getting the feeling from the opperater at BT they didnt fully understand what i was looking for i googled it and found conflicting posts/copmments suggestiing otherwise such as a requirement for Business Broadband.
Please can some help me bottom this out.
Thanks
Dale
Its dynamic, however you can use a DDNS service to overcome the problem.
How can I connect to my webcam or NAS if my public IP address changes?
Make sure you have also opted out of CG-NAT. See here for info and link to opt out. Link is hidden away near the bottom of the page. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44044/~/ip-address-translation%2Fsharing
