BT Broadband Speed

Go to solution

I have just switched over to BT from Orange.  My BT BB went live yesterday although I am now only getting a download speed of less than 1.0mb!!  Previously I had a speed of 1.85mb with Orange.  A BT line test said I should get up to 4.0mb and to try the usual checks to try and improve speeds. The BT HH router is plugged into the same filter etc as my old Belkin router so...

Any one got any ideas?

Re: BT Broadband Speed

You must not disturb the circuit for at least 10 days, otherwise you will end up with a slow speed, as the exchange will think there is a fault. Do not depower, disconnect, or restart the home hub.

If you still have a slow speed, after a full 10 days of connection, then please post back here and you will get some more help,

Re: BT Broadband Speed

Thanks for the quick response. Do you know why the speed would drop though I did think about hooking up my old router.

As you can imagine less than 1.0mb is maddening so I take it its grin and bear it for 10 days.

I normally power down my PC router etc. overnight (which I did last night) so I should leave the Home Hub on 24/7?

thanks again

The home hub should be left on 24/7.

If you give me your current ADSL Statistics I should be able to give you an idea what the final speed is likely to be.

After copying your image and magifying it Smiley Wink

Calculations say that you should eventually get a connection speed of about 7328Kbs, provided you leave it alone for at least 10 days.

During that time, the exchange may drop the connection and re-connect at a higher speed.

Here is your image a bit bigger.
