BT Business download speed has dropped ??

Was checking my router last night and noticed my downlaod speed which had been constant for over the last three weeks at 8300 was now showing 6200..phoned them up but didn't get very far.. rebooting devices etc etc.. and this morning still showing the same.. whats going on ..why has it dropped...?

It's the DLM down at the exchange which has highered your SNR and therefore lowered your lines maximum achievable rate. The 'Max Rate' is what your router calculates is your best performance with the SNR, Attenuation and Modulation in mind. The actual 'Rate' is always lower than the 'Max Rate' to prevent any stability issues.
