BT Call Protect didn't block number

Hi ! I received a scam call (01752 880699) this morning purporting to be from BT Openreach at 09:51. I told them where to go and then included the the number to be blacklisted by dialling 1572.  However, at 11:15 this morning - I received another scam BT Openreach call using the SAME number.  How come it didn't get blocked????

Re: BT Call Protect didn't block number

It wasn't blocked because it is not coming from the number it purports to be. The number will have been spoofed and the genuine number which will be a VOIP (Internet Phone) number is constantly changed and will be hidden to prevent it being blocked.

See links about spoofing.

Re: BT Call Protect didn't block number

If you buy a Panasonic or BT cordless phone, they have a number blocking feature. It tends to work very well. Though, as other members have pointed out, the scammers use spoof numbers that can fool the system.
