Re: BT Cloud

The Cloud is not free it is a part of the monthly fee we all pay and if you want more storage than 1 TB  you pay for it. There are many people who are having issues with the BT cloud and the latest test version 21.1.3 than has been given to some of the BT Community to test is not without issues.

The Forum Community are right to voice their views on the failure of the BT Cloud and the failure of BT to communicate on the Cloud issues.

The BTCloud service was, and may still be, provided by a 3rd party, Synchronoss, whose stated business is to enable suppliers (ISPs) to create new revenue opportunities through a differentiating, cross channel customer experience.

And if you don't want more that 1TB then it is free.  You don't get a reduced monthly fee if you don't activate the service either!

Note the use of the quotation marks in my earlier post, because I quoted exactly what BT promote the service as: FREE.

If you want to prove you're paying for the basic service, please post a suitably anonymised invoice documenting your payment fee!

Re: BT Cloud

Your defence is terrible.

Even if the service is free it's a service offered to attract customers to remain with their "paid for" products. BT Cloud, as BT know, invites users to commit their vital operation (syncing and backup) to its product under the expectation of a reliable functioning product. Nowhere have BT stated in their terms and condition that because the product is free it doesn't have to function more do they have to do anything about or maintain. Nothing states that if they choose to they can automatically force your software to update to an inferior product resulting in the deletion of your data and the termination of the service offered to you.

Many users do in fact pay for this product either directly, like myself, or indirectly. I pay for the extra service and space and for 2 months now BT have not addressed or rectified this issue.

That's the point, its a free sweetener, something to entice you to pay for the actual product you are buying: an Internet connectivity service.

The use of sweeteners is common practice throughout many industries (Buy this and get that, or another this, free!) and there is a significant difference between that and the products which you do actually pay for, which must contractually be delivered.

Feel free (excuse the pun) to consult the advice that BT actually provide in Clause 16 of their T&Cs: Citizen's Advice will explain that BTCloud is free and while you can complain about its failings or bugs, unless they cause actual damage (as defined in the T&Cs), that you can quantify and evidentially support, then you actually have no legal recourse whatsoever because it is FREE.

Now what was that old proverb?  Ah, yes: "Beware Geeks bearing gifts!"  😁

Invoice not required see below here are the current BT deals depending on what you pay per months determines the size of the Cloud!!!

Clearly, by your own evidence, what you pay does not determine Cloud allocation size.

 Fibre 2 @ £39.99 gets a 1000GB Cloud allocation.

Fibre with Halo3 @ £55.99 gets a 200GB Cloud allocation.

Fibre 100 with Halo 3 @ £59.99 gets a 200GB Cloud allocation.

Pay extra and get less Cloud allocation!  If you were paying for BTCloud then it would appear to have a NEGATIVE price!

Similarly full fibre pricing, the higher price options for the same speed don't buy you any more Cloud allocation.

Like some of the other offerings, such a Child and Virus Protection etc., these are FREE sweeteners, just like any BOGOF deal in Sainsburys or Tesco.  You don't have to activate them, but it DOESN'T COST ANYTHING to do so.

This is very simple if you do not pay a monthly subscription for  Service as I listed then you do not get My Cloud. So another wee simple fact is if you pay a Subcription you  get do My Cloud with a package.

All very simple ...............

Re: BT Cloud

There's a lot of effort going into explaining why customers are idiots for thinking BT Cloud should work.

It'd be nice to see some effort going into fixing it and/or sharing workarounds.
