BT Desktop Helper

Hi

I made the switch to BT total on the 4th Jan. All appears fine, however software installed from the bT disk during the hub installation (BT Desltop Helper) is running the CPU flat out after PC start up... If I select the icon in the tray (black square with a white question mark) close the program and restart it all is ok and it works fine. I contacted BT telephone help who advised using misconfig/ startup/ and unselecting the program from running at start up.

This has cured the problem however is a temp fix..

1) Has anybody else experienced this ?

2) Is there a solution which will allow the BT desktop helper to run (as it should) from start up

Windows XP home SP3

Many thanks and happy new year

Re: BT Desktop Helper

Best recommendation is un install it as it is not necessary to have it and as you have found can cause more problems than it is worth

Re: BT Desktop Helper

Many thanks for such a swift answer..

Using run/mscionfig/ deselecting it from the startup has cured the problem, and I guess the program is still there should i choose to run it manually from the programs list ? However should it prove any more problematic I will bear your comments in mind..

Many thanks
