Did i read somewhere that this is to become a free service again ?
Currently costing me £5 a month i think but lately i cant seem to see this itemised in the bill
Whats every one paying for this service
If i do cancel my email address and change to another company how do i transfer all my email messages i have saved on the system or even safe them for further reference
If you are referring to the BT Premium email account, the actual price you should be paying is £7.50.
If you are a BT Broadband customer you can associate the BT Premium email account to your current BT Broadband account. You would then not need to pay for the email account.
The other option is that you can downgrade to the BT "Basic" email account. You will only be able to access your email using a web browser so if you use an email client or email apps on a mobile device you will not be able to use them to access the email account.
See link about the options.

If you cancel the BT email service you will lose access to the emails. You would need to download them using an email client and store them on your computer before cancelling the service.

Yes, but only accessible by webmail, not by phone apps or mail clients. It is called basic mail.

It has been £7.50/m for some considerable time now

Either £7.50/m or £0 if you have a broadband account or happy with basic mail.

Simplest way is to install a mail client such as Thunderbird and configure it as an IMAP account and download your mail to your device. You can then create another account and drag and drop the mails tothat account.
Thanks ever so much for the reply and info
When you say only accessible by webmail, does that mean you have to log in through BT homepage ?
And i presume this means if i cancel everything i have with BT , i can still hold onto my email address for free as per above
Yes, webmail means using a web browser and logging in either through the BT home page or if you prefer you can use a direct link to the log on page such as this.
You can cancel everything with BT and maintain the email address via the BT Basic email account.
