BT FON - uable to get it. Why?

I have BB option 3, and decided to check out BT FON.  However, when I tried to activate it using my BT e-mail (which should also be my username) and password, it came up with 'Customer product is not on allowed product list.'  After a bit of figuring out, I realised that, due to difficulties encountered by BT's incompetence, quite frankly, I have ended up with two accounts - one with a username that is my BT e-mail, but has no broadband activated on it on BT's system, and one that is simply the first part of my e-mail address, ending in an @ symbol, but missing the 'btinternet.com' which does have BB option 3 activated on it.  However, if I try to use this second username to try to activate BT FON, I get told that 'Username is an invalid e-mail address.'  Anyone got any clue how I go about fixing this?  I would prefer any answer that does not involve contacting BT, as, quite frankly, my experience with BT so far has led me to believe that just about any answer I get from anyone else will be more likely to be from someone who actually knows what they're talking about than any answer they give themselves.
