Hey team,
I upgraded to Fibre 900 today.
Download is fine, but when using the Smart Hub 2, upload is still locked to my old package upload (51mbps) and the BT speed test in the app confirms that upload speed.
If i dial a PPPoE connection directly on my laptop, or use my netgear router, i get the full upload (110-130mbps).
Given download is fine, it doesn't make sense that it's a performance issue on the Smart Hub, and makes me suspect there is some kind of throttling going on, on the hub (or just QoS? Maybe for digital voice, that's set at 50mbps upload max?)
Solved! Go to Solution.
Possible issue with the Smart Hub 2 yeah,my F900 package got activated this morning at 1am and i'm getting abour 910/120 on an Edge Router Lite with Hardware Offloading enabled.
Is there any difference when testing using IPv4 over IPv6? Thinkbroadband has the option to test on both.
Call them.
Online upgrades have been hit or miss it seems reading comments from people trying to order.
Ahh yeah I did yesterday btu seems to have been a **bleep** up 😐
Ive recalled them now...
Have you got the hub working? I have another router than can do the pppoe, just curious what your speeds etc are like?
Guessing you just enable dynamic pppoe or how do you go about it being that the hub really does nothing other than gets a WAN IP from the openreach box?
When my upload speed didn't increase after an upgrade I was advised to try a factory reset of the hub, using either the factory reset hole/button on the rear (using a paper clip etc.) or via the browser UI.
It worked for me and my upload speed went to the correct speed.
You can save your configuration to a file before the reset and import it after.
I'll post some initial speed tests below, I'll also post my CPU usage while those speeds were attained 😛 (Hardware offloading Enabled)
My CPU is a 7700k @ 4.8Ghz
That CPU usage was taken while downloading on steam @ the 102.8MB/s you see there.
The setup is pretty simple when it comes to setting up your own router.
ONT into Router into Switch or however you want to se it up from there.
all you need is the PPPoE user and password on the router.
User: bthomehub@btbroadband.com
Pass: BT
You WILL need to have a router that has Hardware Offloading in order to get close to 900Mbps though.
Nope, you should be able to haggle down the price to a minimum of £54.99
I ordered at around 16:00 yesterday, and it was switched over at 1am this morning.
