Re: BT Fibre 900 Upgrade / Smart Hub 2 upload throttling

Go to solution

Interestingly, had a rummage in the Intel NIC ( on motherboard ) and change the speed & duplex setting from auto negotiation to gigabit full duplex.  Tried, before a PC reset the BT speedtest, got over 900 d/l & 110 u/l !!

Tried a couple of times, download is still better, upload is variable from 20 to 50 to 100 mbs.

Still, an improvement!

Made a post around 4am today where I was stuck for weeks at 450/10 speeds and now all of a sudden after not touching a single thing my speeds have gone back to 900/100. Coincidence? 😉

Normal, yup, but that upload, 'Jesus'??? terrible 😉

This really has to stop BT, in all honesty, it really has.  There is no excuse for this on a full fibre line.

A quick Google search and found these. Whoever have the 10Mbps upload and slow download issue, have you tried any of these tips? Also could I ask if any of yous are using Powerline adapters? If yes, disconnect them and check speed again.

1.) Press Windows + l keys and search for Delivery optimization " -> click on " advanced options " -> Toggle "Absolute bandwidth" on

Also:

1 ) Try this, right-click on Windows start menu and go Settings.
Open Network & Internet
Select Proxy in the left panel. In the right panel, disable all options.

2 ) Disable Windows Auto-Tuning Feature
Open windows start menu and type: cmd
Right-click on " command prompt " and select Run as admin
Type this following command: netsh interface tcp show global
Look for the "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level feature" , if it If it is displayed as 'normal' please deactivate it as follows:
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

To set it back to "normal": netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

Now check if the speed is ok.

3 ) Disable Large Send Offload
Right-click again on Start button and select " Device manager "
Double-click on your Network Card and click on the Advanced tab
In the drop-down list, select Large Send Offload V2 (IPv4) and set the value to Disabled
Do the same for Large Send Offload V2 (IPv6)
Click OK.

4) Check your dns settings.

Press Windows + r keys and type: NCPA.CPL
Right-click on your network card and select Properties
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and go to Properties.
Checks if the 'obtain an ip .... and Obtain DNS server ....' box is checked on automatic. This must other on auto.

You can do a test with the google dns if you check Use the following DNS
Google's Public DNS addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

And another one that is interesting:

Update. Seems crazy, but I totally disconnected all plugged-in USB devices, my HDMI connection, audio out to external speakers, disconnected the Ethernet connection again, turned on my wifi and BAM! 480+Mbps speeds! I reconnected everything, tested again and still had full speed down/uploads!! I rebooted, still have full speeds again....go figure.

After 35 years of computers, I still scratch my head at times......

Wow... I did this as well, turns out my TP-Link Bluetooth adapter was the problem (for some reason?) It limited my connection to 12mbps

10mb to 75mb instant

Thank you!!!

And another one:

What SEEMS to have fixed it, is that I ended up uninstalling the device driver, rebooted and then ran my registry cleaner. I then installed the base line Windows provided driver, and then the latest drivers. So far, so good. Looks like a hairball got caught in the system...

Keeping my fingers crossed,

I've had FTTP installed today having previously been on FTTC. The download speed is absolutely fine. The upload speed started off capped at 50mb now has dropped to 20mb. I did a single factory reset and it temporarily went up to 50mb again but now back at 20mb.

Does something need to be done to my profile to fix the upload speed? The router shows as having updated last night.

Re: BT Fibre 900 Upgrade / Smart Hub 2 upload throttling

Hi I recently upgraded to Fibre 900 and seem to be stuck on my old upload speed so thinking this may be affecting me, ive tried talking on phone to someone but she didn't seem to know what i was talking about stuck on an upload speed from when i was on Fibre 500. I am getting about 70, when the new contract says i get get up to 120? Speed hasnt changed from fibre 500.

I just read that sometimes the upload speed can get stuck from old package and might need manual intervention, wondering if that could be my issue. I upgraded cause i want a better upload speed is there some way you can look into it for me? Thanks.

Re: BT Fibre 900 Upgrade / Smart Hub 2 upload throttling

Hi Paddy,

I upgraded to full fibre 900 from the f00 package last week. Download speeds are very good, in fact above advertised levels, upload speeds are a different matter. I have been getting speeds as low as 00.6mbps to the highest at 6.06mbps via ethernet to HH2. Any advice?

Thanks,

Neil
