So I got my hub 4 about 30 mins a go.
Outer packaging open - the tear off part but the main packaging appears secure:|
Plug it in and switch it on.
It appears that the device used by BT or someone else to test it has had it's info retained on the hub:o
(it is a HP device and has a static IP of 192.168.1.64)
Will start to tweak this and that;)
Hmm, rather disappointing and at bit of a backwards step IMHO:(
Removed someone else's device:)
Changed the admin password
Changed the default SSID's (2.4 and 5Ghz)
Changed the wireless key for 2.4Ghz but left 5Ghz as is
Changed to hubs range (now 172.16.0.64 - 172.16.255.254)
Changed lease time to 21 days
Turned UPnP off
Turned WPS off
Turned Smart Set UP off - didn't see anything anyway when I first connected this laptop via ethernet:o
Decided to turn off 5Ghz as the 2.4Ghz is cr@p in comparison to the HH3
Noticed that the usage is now back to MB and not GB
Hub stats NO LONGER AVAILABLE!:( - via Troubleshooting -> Helpdesk you do get the following:
|20. VPI/VCI:||0 / 38|
|21. Modulation:||G.992.5 Annex A|
|22. Latency type:||Fast|
Currently the wifi range is worse than the range I had on the HH3a
(So glad I didn't pay anything for it)
Hi Pyrohybird and welcome
Thanks for posting:)
So you were one of the 'lucky' one's:|
I've done a bit of research prior to getting a HH4 and was expecting the 'CD' type stuff, but didn't see it.
I agree it would of been annoying;)
So known bugs were left and it went live? - I too have had similar issues with other products:(
Not too sure as I've always stuck with the HH's, but could you not use your HH4 as your primary hub, with BTV running off that and connect your R6300 as a secondary and run your other stuff through that?
Have you ever noticed the poor wifi range?
Event log is buggy:(
When the hub checks for wifi interference, the event log page doesn't like it.
It's only when an event occurs regarding the smart wifi or when you turn 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz off and on.
The rest of the event log pages are fine.
This didn't do this on my HH3a.
edit. Hmm, it's fine on IE, so why now?
Similar to john's comment above: I had (different) problems with some HomeHub displays because of an adblocker. Check wityh any adblocker disabled. If it works, put the device into the Adblocker exception list.
Hmm, checked my addons etc and it's still doing it on FF21:(
But when the event log page goes 'funny', it's only when the 5Ghz does a smart scan. All other pages that don't have this are 100% fine.
