BT Halo 1 Fibre 100

Hi Guys & Gals,

Hope I've posted this on the right board...

Anyway,  Ok so  I've got BT Halo 1 Fibre 100, 12 days ago I and had a problem with the router. A new one was sent the next day. However I Still have a slight problem I can't work out, so I need some advice .

On my TV which is wired via ethernet cable direct to the router I'm getting around 140 MBPS download speed. On my laptop using WIFI I'm only getting 52 MBPS download speed and that is in the same room as the router. If I plug the laptop in-to my BT expander via the ethernet cable  its still the same.  I've also tried it direct from the laptop to the router and got 85MBPS. Is something still not right. My laptop is around 4 years old..Any thought..

Thanks.

@OriginalGuinness

You laptop probably only has a 100Mbs network card, or its simply not fast enough to cope with the speed. You are unlikely to notice the difference in practice, as most websites cannot deliver even a fraction of that speed.

Wifi is always going to be much slower anyway.

Thanks for the reply. I did wonder if the card was the problem. Just one thing! Why is the TV so good?

Possibly a 1Gb interface card, or simply a faster processor inside, which is often needed in a smart TV. Remember TVs do not use the Windows OS, and have their own OS instead.
