BT Home Broadband for Community Centre?

Go to solution

Hi all,

Is it possible to sign up for BT Home Broadband for a community centre? We don't have any employees, but are registered as a charity.

eg currently 52Mb fibre is £31.99 pm with a £100 gift card, free new line installation - via broadbandchoices.

Or do we have to go for BT Business broadband, which costs a lot more?

In that case I wouldn't go for BT as others, even Plusnet which is owned by BT,  are cheaper.

Thanks in anticipation

@Phi1ip the service would have to be provided in a persons name rather than he community centres and the terms of service for residential accounts advise the following

  1. Each service is just for you and your household for personal use (meaning that it should not be used for any trade, business or profession). You're responsible for how each service and the equipment are used.

The business broadband packages are quite similarly priced if you look here.

Thanks @NeilO

Good to have it clarified so I don't waste time trying to do something that's not possible.

BT Home has a v good deal on 52Mbs fibre now, so BT Business looks more expensive in comparison.

It seems BT, and other providers do not provide Broadband at a reduced rate for community groups, which is a shame. Why should a voluntary organisation with little or no income have to have pay Business Broadband rates for something that is not used24/7? Has anyone solved this basic query of how to get broadband for Community groups without having to pay extortionate rates?
