Hello,
It's possible to extend the coverage of my house using a Router TL-WDR3600 ? I was trying to connect LAN 1 - 4 to the WAN port, but I don't find a way to have a connection on the other router.
I'm doing something wrong?
I have the WAN port with DHCP and already triend with PPOE.
Thanks
Welcome to this user forum.
You cannot use the home hub as just a modem, so adding a router will not work. You would be better adding either a wireless access point, or use one of thes BT products.

I would take the router back, and exchange it for something else.
Why can't I use the BT has a modem only? BT blocks that possibility?

Because the modem part and the router part are internally linked, they cannot be separated.
You could buy a stand alone VDSL modem, and connect that to the WAN port of the router. Either a second hand Openreach modem, or a Netgear DM200 modem, about £35.
As I said, I would exchange the router for something else. You may find that the same shop sells the BT hotspot devices.
There's no reason why the TL-WDR3600 can't be used as a WAP. Just give it an address outside the DHCP range of the hub and connect it LAN port to LAN port.
It would be a terrible waste of a good router, and you would lose all of the extra features of the router, as they only function from the WAN.
I have notice that people seem to buy routers, thinking that is what they need, when all they need is a wireless access point. Perhaps its the sales people in the shops giving out the wrong information?
I agree Keith, but if somebody has a device lying around from previous usage it is cheaper to use that than buy something new.
I agree on that point, if they may have been a cable customer in the past, and its going spare.
You can connect it LAN to WAN as long as the second router LAN is a different subnet to the first. You will be double natting and the HH will be handling the PPPoE stuff. Openreach modem is probably a better option.
