BT Infinity 1 connection drop outs..... recommend a router?

Hi everyone, I wondering if anyone can help me, I have BT Infinity 1 (37mbps, HH4 and Modem) and I keep experiencing drop outs most often in the evening between 20:00-22:00, but can happen during the day as well but not so often.

I have been checking the logs in the router and this is what it says:

19:45:24, 10 Oct.(265768.450000) PPPoE is down after 223 minutes uptime [Disconnected]
19:45:21, 10 Oct.

(265765.360000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [Peer not responding]

22:47:56, 12 Oct.(449518.460000) PPPoE is down after 3061 minutes uptime [Disconnected]
22:47:53, 12 Oct.449515.300000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [Peer not responding]

Sometimes my connection can last upto 2 days without dropping, other times it can drop within hours of each drop out usually in the evenings.

I have no problems with loss of performance/speed, its just the annoying drop outs which can affect me greatly when I do online gaming.

I have been following other posts on this forum for a few weeks now and was wondering if a third party router/modem would be better than my HH4 and Modem, and if so WHICH router would you people recommend. From reading other posts on this forum ive heard good things about the TP Link TD-W9980.

Would this help in keeping the connection a bit more stable or shall i just keep my HH4?

Here is the help desk info from my router:

1. Product name:BT Home Hub
2. Serial number:+068341+NQ31868193
3. Firmware version:Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.130.1.26.1.1 (Type A) Last updated 11/09/15
4. Board version:BT Hub 4A

6. Data sent/received:850.3 MB / 28.4 GB
7. Broadband username:bthomehub@btbroadband.com

10. 2.4 GHz Wireless connections:Enabled (802.11 b/g/n (up to 144 Mb/s))
11. 2.4 GHz Wireless security:WPA and WPA2
12. 2.4 GHz Wireless channel:1
13. 5 GHz Wireless network/SSID:BTHub4-QKW7
14. 5 GHz Wireless connections:Disabled
15. 5 GHz Wireless security:WPA2

17. Firewall:Default
18. MAC Address:cc:33:bb:0f:b3:10

So basically is there anyone out there who has a stable connection using a third party router? And if so, what router/modem do you recommend?

Regards

Dave

Re: BT Infinity 1 connection drop outs..... recommend a router?

If you are using an openreach modem and you are dropping Internet connection then that is not a hub problem as the Internet connection is controlled by the modem. More likely a line problem. Did you try the quiet line test?
