We have put together a short survey to capture your feedback in terms of what BT can do when you experience home Wi-Fi issues. We would appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to complete a short survey. Read more from here, Fix my home Wi-Fi
I have recently moved house and decided to switch to BT from Sky. I have noticed however at night my download speeds drop from 60-70mbps to less than 20mbps. I have contacted via phone and they have identified that there is a fault in the line (that will be fixed on September 8th - I originally said August I meant September sorry). I was wondering if this fault is why my download speed is dropping or whether it may be because of congestion?
Solved! Go to Solution.
They said they are going to fix the line fault on the 8th of September (my bad I said August). But is a line fault the same as congestion? Also my internet just dropped (the first time I've noticed so far).
@cammyl oh I see. Congestion is in the network and not related to an individual line fault, it happens when there is not enough capacity to meet the demand in your area. What exchange are you connected to?
Keep an eye on the drops and let us know if they increase in frequency.
@cammyl I can see some recent issues reported regarding congestion in your exchange area. If you use the 'contact the mods' link in my forum profile to send in your details we'll be happy to check your fault to make sure it's moving in the right direction. You can find the link by clicking on my username .
Ok I believe I have sent in the details! Thanks for the quick response!
This support is so much better than phone support. I phoned one night and they answered straight away, transferred me to another department and left me on hold for 30 minutes before I was cut off. I tried calling back and it said the department was closed.
So again thank you for the fast responses.
Hi, this was marked as solved and it was solved for a while.
My speeds have started dropping again as we speak I am only getting 40mbps down instead of 70mbps 😞
