BT Infinity 2 speed drop (linestats included)

Go to solution

Been on BT Inifinity 2 for a few years, and it has been good (64 down 20 up) and rock solid . . . .

. . . . untill about 3 weeks ago.

Speeds dropped to 30 down 0.8 up, latency shot through the roof!

Tried calling - got nowhere after being disconnected several times! Smiley Mad

Tried online support - a little better, just over a week ago an engineer visited and i waited patiently for an update or at least better speeds but alas still nothing.

This weekend purchased a new modem with linestats as the speeds atayed the same and i heard nothing back from BT.

The stats show;

You are in a banded profile probably due to your connection dropping often or manual resets or. Combination of both

This will recover automatically with noise margin dropping down to normal 6db and speed increasing nearer attainable  this could take a few weeks to happen ghough. You need a stable connection 24/7 with no resets

Thank you for that, I guess switching to a new modem didn't help the recovery after all!

But I must say its much more responsive than the HH5 and has some nifty features (alongside linestats).

Should i see the same improvement in my latency?

All the resets have resulted in deep interleaving being applied and that will take even longer before the interleaving depth reduces

I guess its just wait it out then Smiley Happy

It would have been usefull for the engineer to have explained that to me when he visited, as i have never had any problems with infinity i just assumed that it was the same process as ADSL.

With adsl the forum mods would be able to help with the banded profile and latency but with vdsl it is controlled by the DLM you need a broadband  engineer visit and a problem fixed before engineer can get DLM reset.

A phone engineer as against a broadband engineer cannot get DLM reset

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed drop (linestats included)

Hello,

Its been some time . . .

Unfortunatley my line speeds have still not improved. I still have the stats previously posted but the speeds remain drastically lower than previous to this issue.

Please help!

Thank you
