BT Infinity. Was perfect. Continues to degrade daily.

I have had BT Infinity 2 since 16th May 2012. For a year I had rock solid speeds and an IP Profile of 79Mb/s. In the past few weeks my IP Profile and hence speed has decreased firstly to 69Mb/s, then 62Mb/s and currently 58Mb/s. I live on a new estate with new copper wiring. The two street cabinets are 50 metres from my master socket.

I can only imagine the more people who take up fibre on your cabs the speed will reduce?

Hi

The reason your speed has dropped is most likely because of a noise issue or crosstalk  this has caused the DLM to reduce your IP profile to stabilise the line

I believe that my line is shielded and braided. So why should there be crosstalk?

I don't think it is shielded and braided all the way from the cabinet to your exchange home.  There is certainly lots of discussion about crosstalk here and on Thinkbroadband as number of FTTC installs ramps up.

It's fibre from the cabinet to the exchange actually.

Its definitely not shielded. And theres not many twists in it, just enough.
