BT Infinity and TP-LINK TD-W8980

Go to solution

Hello all,

I have recently purchased a TP-LINK W8980 router and I am having issues replacing my BT Home Hub with it.

Could anyone please help me with the configuration? Or better yet has anyone else got this router working on a BT Infinity connection.

I spoke to support and I used the details they provided me for the settings for the WAN connection and they just do not seem to work.

Thank you,

Antony.

I assume you are connecting to the Openreach Modem, what settings were you given? Set WAN port to PPPoE, username--------anything@btbroadband.com, no password needed. If router insists on password just enter anything.

If the open reach modem is that little white box that the guy mounted wonky on the wall and it drives me nuts then indeed sir I am.

I have tried PPPoE and several usernames including the stuff BT support gave me.

They also siad on the support it was PPPOA which I have also tried to no avail 😞

Silly question, confirm you are configuring LAN4 port as a WAN port and Operation Mode to 'Wireless Router Mode'

Edit: Set VPI=0, VCI=38

Just looking at the user guide, you need to set the WAN service as 'PPPoE' tick IPv4 but untick IPv6

Currently doing the things you suggested I had some of that configured how you said but not all.

I need to walk the dog going to try what has been mentioned here then will get back to you.

Do I use the username

bthomehub@btbroadband.com

or

firstname.lastname@btbroadband.com

?

Thank you for your help by the way this is very much apprechiated.
