Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

Hangs for me and takes a few refreshes to get it to load (eventually).

Chrome 10, FF4 and IE9.

Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

quigger, that's exactly the same as what I get.  I've no idea why we're similar and have similar issues.

Full spec - i've got BT Vision with the sky sports pack, BT Infinity. Home setup is HH3 and white router, BT Vision is connected through powerline adapters.  Also have phone system on wireless.  I'm on the exchange SSMID.

Anything similar to yours?

Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

HH3, BT Phone and Infinity (no BT Vision).
I use Ethernet to connect to HH.
Not sure on exchange - how do I find out?

Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

Go here and enter your town. SSMID is Midsomer Norton.

Don't actually see what difference it makes but.........

And has it made a difference now that you know?

What do you intend to use the information for?

Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

Its highly unlikely it is the exchange or even the router assuming you have not closed any ports (i.e. fiddled with the advanced settings).

Someone asked people to check an o2 site. They have an excellent support page on this issue at

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Broadband...

There are loads of help available just a quick search away, my hunch is that both your firewalls are causing the problem as you say you have eliminated the most common issue which is the browser. Eliminate that before blaming the most unlikely which is the Infinity connection.

Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

Hi Infinitechris,

Thanks.

I'd ask you to re-read this whole post if you will. You'll notice that I said that no issues occur using the SAME PC setup including FIREWALL when using a mobile dongle (Orange).

See post: "25-03-2011 13h02"

Cheers,
Jason.

Re: BT Infinity and https connection issues

I had missed that but I would suggest that as only two people are having problems the most likely issue is local rather than systemic. Two people is probably coincidental. If there was a wide spread network issue that affected major https sites lots of us who use on line banking or shopping sites would see the effect i.e. almost every user. BT's network trafffic is not direct from each exchange but via a common backbone, firewalling and security will be centralised.
