BT Infinity replacement router

Hi all

Im looking to replace the HH3 with a 3rd party router, i only have £40-£50 max, can anyone recomend  a decent router for this kind of money please?

I was looking at getting one of these:

Asus RT-N12-C1 N300 Black Diamond Router

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless-N Gigabit Router (TL-WR1043ND) [TL-WR1043ND]

But if anyone else knows of a better router for £40-50 that will be a great help

Re: BT Infinity replacement router

Of the two I would go for the ASUS. It can be loaded with a custom firmware - Tomato - which has a good community for support and updates - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato_%28firmware%29

Re: BT Infinity replacement router

As we're on the subject of new routers, what would be the best router to buy for anything up to £100?

Re: BT Infinity replacement router

I keep getting told on another forum, that unless a buy a Dlink 655 or a Asus RT-N56U, anything else i buy will be not good enough and i might as well keep the HH3?

Surely the routers ive listed will be better than the HH3?

What is your opinion of that guys?

Re: BT Infinity replacement router

The two routers mentioned have very fast WAN-LAN speeds which is the reason I had to dump my Draytek as it had a max throughput of around 35mbit/s.

Th TP-Link is OK ish if you are on s strict budget but I wouldn't recommend it.

Re: BT Infinity replacement router

Hi Anthony, i have ordered the TP Link as my budget is limited unfortunately, im sure its going to miles better than the HH3 🙂

Im going to flash the FW with

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd

Ive also read several other reviews on the TL- WR1034ND that all prasie the router unlike the link you have provided.

I dont think i can get better for £45, i would love the Asus  RT-N56U but i cant afford the extra £40.
