I use BT Broadband.
Just tested it now. It defaulted to imap with no option to choose pop.
Checking some more, reading an email on my iPad is not reflected on Web mail. The message remains unread.

So you managed to create a BTInternet email account on an iPad with IMAP enabled?
I did. But that was new email account (I have just come back to BT).
When I tried to connect my "old" account from a few years ago, I could access via webmail but not set up on my phone.
I changed the password via webmail and tried again. And that time it worked. So try a password change?
I delete email accounts from my iPhone and iPad turned them both off. I then turned on my iPad and recreated the email again, same problem. On my phone I had an IMAP option and a warning that Imay not be able to send or receive emails with SSL enabled. I cancelled the action and retried but without the IMAP option this time.
I have three BT Internet accounts. I wonder if I’ll have to delete all of them and recreate.

Do try changing the password via webmail with one of your accounts.
I’ve now tried a few options with some success. I remove the mail account from my iPad and iPhone. I then turned both off. I then turned my iPhone on and even without a second page, for some reason it is not presented, I have an IMAP account but it still doesn’t synchronise with my web mail. The iPad still has the same problem.
