BT Mobile SIM Only Features

Hi. I have been looking at the BT Mobile SIM Only offers but cannot find details of what the deals offer in terms of features such as VoLTE, WiFi calling, short code dialling etc. I know such things can be gleaned from this forum but it would be good to know that they will be available with the product(s) I'm considering. Can anyone direct me to a link showing such detail? Regards - Andy

Re: BT Mobile SIM Only Features

BT owns and uses the EE network so all of those features are supported by the network, the question is does your phone support them. The only qualification I'm aware of is that the My BT app will tell you that your phone doesn't support LTE or Wi-Fi calling when it does.

For example, the MyBT App tells me that mine doesn't support either but if I check the notification area of my phone during a call, it will tell me that I am using one or other of those functions

Indeed, wifi calling is available, possibly depending upon the phone itself.

Re: BT Mobile SIM Only Features

Hi

Thanks for that. I'm not sure it's safe to assume that everything that EE supply is available via the BT offering because not all MVNOs using EE offer the same features that direct EE customers get. (I appreciate the BT/EE relationship.) I would expect BT to have a statement on what their product offers, and they probably do, somewhere. I spoke to someone on BT Chat and they didn't know (hadn't been told) what VoLTE was!

I'm currently on EE and everything I need works but I'm looking at BT because they offer a 10G (£17) data product whereas EE offers ump from 3G (£19) to 20G  (£22) with nothing in between.  EE are aiming at the heavy users with the best deals being £20 for 100G  & £23 for 200G.

Cheers - Andy

No visual voicemail is a good example of that, but there are apps available to fill the void.

We have 4 BT sims and I think the service is decent. £5 off when you have broadband plus double data if you have Halo are good perks, but we have 4 sims with 10GB of data (doubled to 20GB), and the Wife and I will use a gig if lucky (even pre-lockdown), in a month, while the kids could use 20GB in a week!

So for us it would be better if we could share data and I could top the kids up with my unused allowance, which is another thing EE offers that BT doesn't.

Sim Sherpa have a decent comparison of high level features between EE and BT Mobile, but you will find it hard to get definitive information from BT themselves, they are the masters of confusion marketing.

The main help pages for BT Mobile are probably as good as it gets.

Is this any use https://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/phones-tablets/bt-mobile-benefits-free-extras-11364111882001

It's worth bearing in mind that you also get double data for being on BT Halo, eg; a 5GB plan becomes a 10GB plan at no extra cost

Re: BT Mobile SIM Only Features

Hi again.

Thanks all for your inputs. 😀 I've not got BT phone or BB so I'd be getting the basic deal which would be fine. The links were helpful and the 'benefits' link covered one of the aspects I'd forgotten about, namely tethering.  I'll assume I'd get VoLTE, WiFi calling, tethering, short code dialling which are the main things I'm looking for with the same coverage as I'm now getting with EE . Will see what happens when I talk to EE  in a few weeks as the end of my contract approaches.

Thanks to all again.

Cheers - Andy
