BT Openreach Huawei HG612 3B VDSL/FTTC Fibre Modem

I have the above coming tomorrow to replace my HH5 (Infinity 2 approx 80/20) then I can use another Wifi Router. Anyway wanted to know should i just plug and play or do i need to update the HG612 with any firmware before use? any info appreciated.

the modem should be plug and play  if you use third party router then you need to set username to bthomehub@btbroadband.com and any password will do  also needs to be set at PPPoE not A

You will need to unlock it to be able to see the stats.  See here for instructions how to do that.

@licquorice with it being a used item, is there an easy way to find out if the device is locked or unlocked when it arrives? Cheers.

See if you can connect to it on LAN port 2 192.168.1.1 (admin/admin) If you bought it on ebay, I would have thought it would have been sold described as either locked or unlocked.

@licquorice would it make any difference locked/unlocked? i.e. I can still change the firmware etc?

If its locked you can't do anything with it (other than use it Smiley Happy ), changing the firmware using the method I linked to is the unlocking process.

You also need to update the firmware if you require g.inp to version B030SP08.
