Can anyone confirm the speeds I should expect from the Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi , it states it supports wireless ax but the more I read its not for clients?
Does it support 160mhz/HT160?
I can only get 866.7mbps with an Intel AX200 wireless card and a signal strength of -39dBm
I am quite disappointed with them so far
Hi miller75,
BT Premium WHW supports AX3700 which is 2.4GHz 400Mbps 11n, 5GHz 866Mbps 11ac and 5GHz (Backbone) 2400Mbps 11ax so the speeds you are experiencing are as expected for this product.
I would guess this test was carried out connected to the primary disc. I would not imagine you would see this speed connected to a secondary disc traversing the backhaul.
Really!
So the information on the BT shop website is at best completely misleading at worst completely incorrect.
https://shop.bt.com/products/bt-premium-whole-home-wi-fi-three-discs-093593-F7BX.html
It says it does IEEE 802.11ax 5GHz nowhere on the page does it say its not a client protocol.
The specs for these devices dont appear to be anywhere on the internet, unless anyone can point me in the right direction.
I believe this product was released at the end of 2019 and it does the same link speed as my 3/4 year old Draytek!
Its half the speed of a SH2, full of bugs, doesnt work with Virgin even though its advertised as doing so.
This is a £300 product and only capable of 866.7!!!
PLEASE POST THE FULL SPECS FOR THESE AND PASS THEM ONTO RETAILERS SO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BUYING.
Completely agree with you @miller75
This is exactly why I got rid of them in the end, especially when you realise the 5ghz radio is only capable of 866 mbps which is actually slower than the maximum available on the standard BT Whole Home Wifi.
I really wanted to like these but didn't meet my expectations.
If you have an Ethernet backhaul the standard BT Wifi will outperform the premium wifi, whilst they are only allowing clients to access AC speeds rather than AX.
Thats crazy that they are slower than the Whole Home Wifi, I got them on Thursday and I will be sending them back Monday.
Although I connect at 866.7 I only get about 35mb/s copying from my NAS, I get 80mb/s with the Smart hub
