BT Smart Home Cam

The Home Cam has excellent picture quality despite other shortcomings

BUT

you just knew there was a but coming, whilst it can be accessed throught he web portal by mibiles etc. I find I cannot access it through a laptop in my home if I am connected via a 5ghz signal.  Apple products connect regardless of band but my PCs have to be on the 2.4ghz channel to view the camera output.

Help! Please

OR is it 'they all do that sir'........... Smart \hub issue again?

 @Bennachie

When you access it through iphone, ipad etc, is this using mobile data, or connected to your own home hub wifi?

When you try to access it locally, are you trying to access it via its internal local IP address, or its external web address?

Re: BT Smart Home Cam

iPhone app access is via BOTH wireless and 4g connection.

No access through lap top wirelessly OR desk top via ethernet.........

Call back from support who said they have no idea what it could be they have never experienced anything like it........

Re: BT Smart Home Cam

I would suspect that its more to do with the way that the app works, as it may be accessing the camera via a different port number, not the default port 80.

I am assuming that the Smart Cam does allow you to access it without using an app?

Do you know the IP address and port number that the camera is using?

You may get a clue by looking at the port forwarding page on the home hub, as I assume the camera uses UPnP to open any ports.

Which BT home hub are you using?
