We are about to move from BT Smart Hub to Smart Hub 2, is there any differences apart from the whole home wifi?
Also the discs for Smart Hub 2, are these the same as the BT Whole Home wifi white discs apart from the black colour?
To add, I already have a new BT whole home wi-fi 2 pack that I have never set up, will I be able to add both of these to the Hub 2 as extenders?
The two systems are incompatible and cannot be used together.
You would be better staying with the smart hub, and not moving to the smart hub 2 unless you plan to sell your white discs. Why are you changing?
There is no advantage in moving to the Smart Hub 2 unless you plan to move your whole system over to the black discs.
The other thing to consider, is that you never own the Smart Hub 2 or the black discs, they are loaned by BT, and must be returned if you leave.
Thanks. We are upgrading to FTTP and the Smart Hub 2 is getting posted out as part of the package. The Smart Hub we have is good and has been reliable and gives decent wi-fi in most of our house, only a couple of rooms where it's not great. I was hoping the Smart Hub 2 would be an improvement and if need be add the whole home discs to improve the poor rooms and get wi-fi into the garden and summer house but sounds like this will not be possible. I did read somewhere that customers do not own the equipment any more its just loaned like Sky does with Q, there is a lot of new Hubs and discs on Gumtree, some people are in for a shock when their contract is up.
Are the black discs a mesh system the same as the white ones or are they just additional wireless access points?
If you are upgrading to FTTP, then your old home hub 6 would be no good, unless it has a RED WAN connection, which it probably has not.
You may be able to use the white discs if one of them is left plugged into the smart hub 2, but you would not be able to use the black disc(s) as well.
If you are intending to move to the BT Complete WiFi solution, then it would be better to sell your white discs.

They are a mesh system, with the Smart Hub 2 forming the first node in the mesh.
Thanks I will wait till it's installed and see how good the wifi is and take it from there.
What should be the superior system, the whole home white discs or the complete wifi black discs? Seems a bit odd BT did not make them compatible. If the whole home is superior I'll likely stay with it, if the complete wifi is better I will look into getting a disc.
Any advise what the technically the superior system, the black Complete wi-fi or white Whole Home system. Or are they they similar specification but different colour even thought they are not compatible with each other.
