The con is in the lock in - i recently moved house and had to pay £130 to have BT connect a line to the new house and I was informed that if I didn't and wanted to leave their service it would cost me the remainder of my contract - 6 month's worth, nearly £300. Now, even though I no longer get the main thing I went with them for I can't escape, hence the con...

So BT provide you with a new phone line but are willing to waive the cost of installation as long as you continue with your original contract.
What exactly is the con?

No - they charged me £130 to connect two wires at the exchange and insisted I stayed or paid up my contract. If I didn't pay it would cost me £300 for nothing and as it is I have paid £130 plus the £300 for half the Bt sport I contracted to originally. At least the complete removal of BT sport from aerial subscribers co-incides with the end of my contract and I can get out in June...
