BT Sport on Sky

I have registered for BT sport on my sky box, however no longer a sky customer but as far as i am aware my sky card is still active. However my sky box broke a few years ago and I got a box from a friend. I am now getting a message on the BT sport channel saying the card does not match the box. Has anyone any ideas how to get the box and card to sync?

I could be wrong on this, but I think you may have to make a one off* payment to Sky to access their Freesat from Sky service to make this happen.

*Actually the tiny print states that Sly can obsolete your card whenever they feel like it for "security reasons" and if they do you have to make another one off payment - sounds like an oxymoron to me.
