BT Sports through Sky, but now being sent separate box

My parents have a BT Sports subscription, and watch it through their Sky box. They have now joined BT for broadband and got a package with broadband, landline and BT Sports together. They were told that they would now be sent a separate box for BT Sport.

Does that mean they will no longer be able to watch BT Sports on Sky channel 431, 432 etc, and have to use the separate box instead? If so, why is this the case? Is it just that the person on the phone when they were ordering didn't realise they'd been watching through a Sky box and so could continue to do it that way? Or is there some actual reason why a separate box is now required?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Were they previously being billed for BT Sport by Sky or BT?

Sounds like the BT Sport on Sky was cancelled and replaced with BT Sports on BTTV, the separate box will be a Youview box.

Having BT Sports on BTTV is the cheapest way to view the sport content.
