BT TV App Extra

Currently I can watch BT Sport on 2 devices at the same time on the BT Sport App. I have just ordered BT TV. If I also subscribe to App Extra would I be able to watch the Sport on 4 devices at the same time?

Hi @nashmills, With BT TV you also get the BT TV app which has a two device limit, so with your BT Sport app you can stream BT Sport to 4 devices. I have a feeling that the BT Sport app is less restrictive on devices (3 I think) but I've never been able to find it in writing.

You don't need to subscribe to BT TV App Extra, this is only needed if you want to stream the non BT Sport channels, Gold, Eurosport etc on more than two devices.

Also, if you've ordered BT TV, you should be able to use the BT TV app straight away and not have to wait for your box to be delivered.

Currently says:

You can access the BT Sport App and online player on as many supported devices as you like, but you can only watch two streams at the same time.

Be aware that if you have BT Sport through EE, only devices with EE SIMs will work.

I was aware I can have 2 simultaneous streams with the BT Sport App. What I was trying to find out was if I subscribed to the TV App Extra would that allow me to have more streams at the same time using the BT TV App? I have 3 sons!

If you want to be able to watch 4 streams of BT Sport then you don't need to pay a fiver a month for Extra, as the BT TV app will give you two. If you want to stream more than 2 subscription channels other than BT Sport, then yes you'll need the Extra subscription.

With the BT TV App when watching  live will effectively be playing the live TV channel  so you wouldn’t have all the BT Sport features that the BT Sport app gives you. Also you need to manage your devices carefully with the BT TV App as there are restrictions as to how frequently the registered devices may be changed.

I asked this question on another post and I am still unclear as people answer in the most confusing ways or maybe i dont put the question across well, but here we are again, as far as i can see its unanswered still.

BT Sport App (not the BT TV app or the BT TV Extra app) allows 2 BT Sport streams simultaneously to 2 devices. You dont however need to register the device you are going to use, so you can chop and change etc.

BT TV ' Extra' App - This allows 2 simultaneous streams of your subscribed channels (not Sky movies or sky sports, BBC, ITV etc) only things like AMC, MTC, Comedy channel etc and includes BT Sport streams. This app requires devices to be registered and you can only register a maximum of 4.

 Now the question that is being asked on this thread and multiple other threads is this:

'How many simultaneous BT Sport streams are available to those who have the BT TV Extra app AND the BT Sport App?' is it still 2 in total or is it 4 in total (2 on the BT Sport app and 2 on the BT TV extra app)???????

My understanding is that it would be 6. 2 for BT TV app, plus two more for the 'extra' subscription and 2 for the BT Sport app. The internet should make it easier to find out information and present information in a simple, clear and concise manner. However, companies such as BT, and they're not alone, seem to go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible. No wonder that they're always near the top for complaints in the Ofcom reports.
