BT TV cooling off period

I’ve just signed up for BT TV on the phone to take advantage of the £5 Entertainment for 6 months offer.

My activation date is 31st July as that is when my Sky TV subscription ends and I was told on the phone, and it even states in the confirmation email, that I’ve got 14 days from when the service starts or kit arrives whichever is latest, to cancel.  It goes on to say that I’ll still have to pay for any chargeable services I use up to the date I cancel.

I’ve had an email to say that my NOW TV account is active immediately, does this mean that I’m going to start being charged £5 per month from today onwards?  The whole idea of starting the TV on 31st July was so that I wasn’t paying for two TV subscriptions and have 14 days to review the service without committing. I’d be happy paying for the 14 days if I end up cancelling.

My question is, am I being charged from today?
