BT Virus Protect - Withdrawal of support for Windows XP and Windows Vista

Hi Everyone,

From January 8th 2021, BT Virus Protect will no longer support Windows XP and Windows Vista.  If you are using one these operating systems, you may see an error message being displayed from BT Virus Protect, stating the ‘Your computer is at risk’.  See the image below

The reason that you are seeing this warning messages is that versions 12.8x and 14.0.x of BT Virus Protect which runs on Windows XP and Vista will not receive any virus signature updates.  This means that your computer will be at risk because new virus definitions will not be detected.

Microsoft removed support for these older operating systems some time ago so it is recommended you upgrade your operating system to Windows 7 or above.  Once you have done this you can update your BT Virus Protect which may involve you needing to uninstall and reinstall the software from your MyBT account.

More info can be found here, McAfee security software shows "At risk" after January 8, 2021

Cheers

Sean
