Re: BT Whole Home Firmware v1.02.05 Build10

@Sircoyniewrote:
@Dan-Oany update on the update to fix the names and bonjour (Apple devices) issues?

Experience has shown that these bug fixes are never very quick.

What doesn't help is that these products have now been discontinued by Apple themselves, so developers are increasingly going to stop including them in updates etc.

I have an Airport Extreme and I have had to accept that this is now a legacy product.  As such I only use it now for TM backups.

Re: BT Whole Home Firmware v1.02.05 Build10

@Jim-lad Appreciate there is a wide range of devices out there and difficult to test for bugs/issues. But the equipment I am using are both fairly new and still considered current, this includes the iPhones/iPads in question and also the HP printer and Honeywell Lyric thermostat.

@jrhop Same here - loads of Apple stuff here (all current or recent models) and everything works connectivity-wise just fine - it's just the HP Envy Airprint printer (still current) that seems to fall off the network and can only be reconnected by restarting the printer.

Re: BT Whole Home Firmware v1.02.05 Build10

My Apple gear works too, no issues whatsoever.  I was simply replying to the poster re: problems with the Airport devices i.e. that they are now 'Apple Legacy' devices, though Apple will continue to support them for the present.

Now Apple supporting them is not the same as other software developers supporting them.

As an aside - I have had some issues with my Samsung/HP laser printer losing it's connection to WH.  HP has recently issued a new driver for the Samsung which touchwood has greatly improved things.

Re: BT Whole Home Firmware v1.02.05 Build10

Ive never had a problem printing from Apple devices using AirPrint to my HP5520. Where I did get sone connection issue was between my pc and printer, both on the WH network but the pc couldn’t see the printer. I did a complete reinstall of Windows10 HP assistant software and ensured the newest drivers and it now works perfectly....so it wasn’t a WH problem at all.

The issue I was having was the same, Windows 10 Pro.  There was two issues with mine, 1. The printer wouldn't wake from sleep and 2. the printer losing its connection to WH.  A firmware update and a driver update has solved the issue.

However, I'm not best pleased with HP.  The caveat for the firmware update was I can no longer us compatible toners.  This never happened when Samsung owned the business and is tantamount to blackmail.  I stopped buying HP because of this type of behaviour.

The Airport Express/Extreme issue though is a valid one.  Apple are no longer selling these devices (though still offering support - currently) and it's only a matter of time before app developers give up on these devices too.

Update from my side, I was firmly in the previous v1.02.05 Build"01" camp of having various problems after a few days, with discs dropping off the network, until I switched off "Legacy Steering". Since then,  I've had no issues, until upgrading to v1.02.05 Build"10" . Now the demons are back, even with legacy steering off, with discs dropping off after a few days Smiley Mad

 I have recieved the advice below from BT by email;

"Please press the factory reset button on the back of all the discs. Wait for the solid blue light to come back on then open the app and repeat the setup of the discs.

You don't need to disable the legacy steering again after this."

Follwing the reset advice above, unfortunately the same problem occurred after 4 days, where  one of my discs in the app was again pink. I also confirm that no steering had been turned off.

To re-cap, with v1.02.05 build 01, I had no problems after turning "off" Legacy Steering, but after build 10, it does not make any difference whether this setting is on or off, which is quite frustrating having found a work around, ie the system will only stay up for around 4 days.

I've sent the log files to BT so will see what the feedback is.

Re: BT Whole Home Firmware v1.02.05 Build10

I have a HP Envy printer and BT Whole Home with the latest firmware.

I was also experiencing the drop off from the network and having to restart. However this is now fixed and is a stable AirPrint connection and HP Envy is always available.

The solution as Ive posted earlier for fixing my airport and HP Envy printer: Enable multicast on the Sky Q router.

@SparkyBoy72 I’m using a BT SmartHub 6, not a Sky Q router, and haven’t yet found the Enable Multicast option Smiley Sad

Re: BT Whole Home Firmware v1.02.05 Build10

I enabled that option on my Sky Q router and it made little difference. The printer is always on the network but the AirPrint part stops working, but can come back by itself at random an hour or so later, reboot of the printer also fixes it. Having same issue with AirPlay speaker and HomeKit thermostat, all randomly disappear and reappear. Never had the issue before BT WHW when just using Sky Q router WiFi. So in my view def a BT WHW issue.
