BT Whole Home Wi-Fi (White) disks and latest Sky Q (Q120) firmware

Are BT aware of any issues with this new firmware to Sky Q which seems to render the a mesh disc useless when any Q device is connected via Ethernet?

The minute the Ethernet cable is removed from the disk then it all works fine again.

There are a whole bunch of unhappy people over on the Sky forums about this.

For me, Sky caused the problem from the moment the sent the new F/W to my devices, so am wondering if BT have been made aware of this issue.

TIA.

@Joe1971 I have no idea if BT know but as the set up with Black discs seems to work I wonder if it is the fact that the White disks will pair to any router and they are trying to pair with the Q boxes. As the Black disks can only pair with the Smarthub 2 that could possibly be the reason.

Re: BT Whole Home Wi-Fi (White) disks and latest Sky Q (Q120) firmware

Hi @Bob1001 ,

Thanks for the reply.

They worked fine until last week when I got a firmware update to the Q environment.  Every since then every time a Q mini is plugged into a WHW disk via Ethernet the disk becomes isolate from the mesh.  The moment it is unplugged it becomes par of the mesh again

Interestingly, this doesn’t happen with Powerline connections, however at least two of my minis can’t uses these as the power in the rooms where that are seems to be on a separate ring main.

@Joe1971

Sorry this is a duplicate post, you unfortunately can't delete posts.

There have been a number of posts about this on the Sky Q forum.

Although no one has been able to prove it and it does not effect everyone it seems to be because White discs can pair to any router they are seeing Q boxes as routers and trying to pair and fail, it does not seem to happen with Black discs which can only pair with the smarthub 2.

Good news that BT have acknowledged it, even if Sky haven’t.
