BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

Hi,

I'm getting intermittent lag which is extremely noticeable on video calls but also when having to connect to a remote server via SSH.

Running a ping from my laptop shows that every few seconds it seems to experience quite a lot of lag (going up to over a second):

...

This keep happening even after reboots, connecting to different disks, and even limiting it to only a single disk.

When using the same ethernet cable connected to the first disk, the response times are all consistently around ~10ms and the same when enabling the Virgin V6 Wifi.

I've got a 3 disk BT Whole Home pack which is connected to a Virgin V6 hub. It's running the latest firmware (v1.02.08 build02). Everything in /steering.htm has been tested with it being enabled and now disabled with no improvement.

Any ideas?

Re: BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

as you appear to be a virgin customer  have you tried raising your problem on the virgin customer forum?

@soler412

As this is a BT Retail customer forum, for BT Broadband customers, you are more likely to get a reply on the Virgin Media User forum. Try this link for some answers.

Re: BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

Apologies, I probably wasn't clear enough

This packet loss only happens when connected to the BT Whole Home Disks and not when connected directly to the Virgin hub (ethernet or Wifi)

This is definitely not an issue with Virgin but the BT Whole Home disks

Re: BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

This is the post from the device team.

Forum members cannot really help with this product, as its just a forum for BT Retail customers, you could try the helpdesk, or read the posts on the Virgin user forum.

Re: BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

again have you tried using the virgin forum as this is most likely to be solved there and not on the BT Broadband customer forum

Re: BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

again, this is not a broadband issue as it works correctly.

The problem is with the BT Whole Home device(s) and this is a BT device forum

@Keith_Beddoe I've tried all the relevant options of resetting/rebooting multiple times and they've not helped.

Then all I can suggest is that you contact the helpdesk.

Re: BT Whole Home Wifi constant intermittent lag

this could easily be a problem between the discs and your virgin router hence the suggestion of the virgin forum to see if other virgin customers have had similar problem and have they found solution
